2026 Free Flu Vaccination Program
Queensland's 2026 free flu vaccination program is now available, with funded vaccination for all Queensland residents aged 6 months and older.
Flu season is approaching - protect yourself, your family, and our community by getting vaccinated early!
Who Can Get Vaccinated for Free:
Queensland Government Free Flu Vaccine Program
The Queensland Government is funding free influenza vaccines for all Queensland residents aged 6 months and older.
New for 2026: Children aged 2-5 years (inclusive) can choose the needle-free nasal spray vaccine (FluMist) instead of an injection. This is a gentle spray into both nostrils that provides easy protection for young children.
National Immunisation Program (NIP)
The influenza vaccine is also funded nationally for people at higher risk of severe illness, including:
- Pregnant women
- Adults aged 65 years and over
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- People with specific medical conditions
How Our Flu Vaccination Clinic Works at Rochedale Family Practice:
- Appointments take approximately 5 minutes per patient
- Administration is bulk-billed (no out-of-pocket cost for the vaccine or consultation under the program)
- Can be given at the same time as other vaccines, including COVID-19. Please let us know in advance
- Children under 9 years receiving the flu vaccine for the first time may need two doses, given one month apart
Why Get Vaccinated Every Year:
- The flu virus changes each year, so annual vaccination is the best way to stay protected
- Protection is strongest in the first 3-4 months after vaccination - getting it early maximises your defence during peak season
- Vaccination helps prevent serious illness, hospitalisations, and protects vulnerable people around you
How to Book:

Introducing the New GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) at Rochedale Family Practice
From 1 July 2025, Medicare introduced the GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP), replacing GPMPs and TCAs with a simpler framework for coordinated chronic condition care.
We're excited to share important updates on how we support patients managing chronic conditions at Rochedale Family Practice. From 1 July 2025, Medicare has introduced a streamlined GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP) to replace the previous GP Management Plans (GPMPs) and Team Care Arrangements (TCAs). This new framework makes it easier for you to access coordinated care, with simplified referrals and equalised Medicare rebates for planning and reviews.
If you already have a GPMP or TCA, rest assured - your existing plan and allied health referrals remain valid until 30 June 2027. There's no rush to switch, but we're here to guide you through the transition when you're ready.
What is the GPCCMP?
The GPCCMP is a single, personalised plan designed for patients with chronic conditions lasting 6 months or more, or terminal illnesses. It covers conditions like diabetes, asthma, heart disease, hypertension, arthritis, and more based on your GP's clinical assessment, not a fixed list.
Key Benefits for You
- Simplified Process: No more separate GPMP and TCA - it's one integrated plan.
- Team Support: Your GP can work with practice nurses to create or review your plan.
- Easier Referrals: Streamlined referrals to allied health professionals such as dietitians and physiotherapists without needing a Team Care Arrangement. Referrals are valid for 12 months.
- Ongoing Reviews: Regular check-ins to adjust your plan and help prevent complications.
- Lifestyle Guidance: Advice on nutrition, exercise, and mental health tailored to your needs.
Medicare Rebates and Eligibility
- MyMedicare Registration: To access GPCCMP rebates, you must be registered with our practice through MyMedicare, a voluntary program linking you to your preferred GP for better continuity of care. If you're not registered yet, we can help - it's quick and free.
- Bulk Billing Available: We offer bulk billing for the GPCCMP to all patients, ensuring you can access this service at no out-of-pocket cost.
How to Get Started
- Book an Appointment: Chat with one of our GPs about your chronic condition. We'll assess if a GPCCMP is right for you and create or transition your plan.
- Register for MyMedicare: If you're not already registered, we can help you do this during your visit so you're eligible for Medicare rebates.
- Contact Us: Call 07 3341 2022 or book online via our website. We're open Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm and Saturdays 8:00am-12:00pm.
Your health is our priority, and the new GPCCMP makes managing chronic conditions simpler and more effective. If you have questions or need support, reach out today - let's work together for better health outcomes!
